We’ve just been featured in Lancashire Business View, and honestly, we’re still buzzing about it.
The piece covers our Red Rose Award win in the Professional Services category, and reading it back, it’s a proper reminder of how far Fresh Perspective has come.
We’ve entered every year since 2018. This is the first time we’ve won.
Laura and Emily have been shortlisted for a Red Rose Award more times than they can count, but never actually taken one home. So when Fresh Perspective’s name was finally read out, the reaction wasn’t exactly composed.
Laura says she barely remembers the moment itself, and only really believes it happened because friends caught it on video. Emily’s version is more straightforward: she screamed. A lot.
We’ll take it.
It started with Laura & Emily, the dogs, and no heating
Fresh Perspective Resourcing began in 2016, when Laura was going through a divorce and wanted to take back control of her working life. There was no big launch, no fanfare – just Laura & Emily working alone from home, sending mailshots and LinkedIn messages into the void, wondering if any of it would land.
Before that, between them, Laura and Emily had worked across 11 different recruitment agencies. None of it sat right. They were told to leave their values at the door, and that was never going to work for two sisters who lead with people first.
So they built something different instead.
Kindness isn’t a soft option – it’s the whole strategy
We separate sales from delivery, so there’s no pressure-cooker environment pushing the wrong hire through just to hit a number. We charge on a time-based model rather than a percentage, which is still unusual in our industry. And we’ve always believed that recruitment is a service, which means leading with who we are, not just what we do.
People sometimes assume that focusing on kindness makes you a bit soft, a bit fluffy. We’d argue it’s the opposite. Profit growth of 164% in the last year says the model works.
The award that’s already opening doors
What’s struck us most since the win isn’t the trophy itself, it’s what’s happened because of it. The number of businesses getting in touch off the back of it has been something else, and we’ve already done business with another Red Rose winner as a direct result.
That’s the real value of nights like this: a room full of Lancashire businesses backing Lancashire businesses. Our people, in every sense.
Ten years in, and we’re only getting started
This win landed right as we hit our 10th anniversary, which feels like more than a coincidence. People told Laura and Emily they’d be lucky to survive a year. A decade later, we’re still here, still growing, and now we’ve got a Red Rose Award to go with it.
We’ve recently revamped our service offering too, adding retainers, training, and recruitment process reviews to how we support clients, alongside our core outsourced model. If you’re a business owner who’s tired of being just another account number to your recruitment partner, this is exactly the kind of thing we mean when we say we do things differently.
